• ART QUILT TITLED: Cracking Up CREATED by Karen Hampton SIZE: 40” x 32”  The “cracking up” design was inspired by a photograph of the side of a house with very badly peeling paint. A pattern was drawn on freezer paper, then fabric was cut in matching tones and values to the color in the photograph. Each piece was then machine appliqued with a satin stitch to black background fabric with matching thread. I determined that I must be crazy to get inspiration from deterioration and mold, hence the name.
